Army Sgt. Matthew A. Webber, 23, of Kalamazoo, Mich.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized), Michigan Army National Guard, Saginaw, Mich.; died on April 27 in the Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, of injuries sustained Nov. 21, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee during combat operations in Habbaniyah, Iraq. Surviving are his four parents, Vince and Jayne Hardy of Stanwood and Alan and Karen Webber of Hudsonville; five grandparents, Jake and Lois DeBoer of Iowa, Raymond Webber of Iron River, William Vanstee of Grand Rapids, and Sally Hardy of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Andrew Webber and Joshua Hardy, both of Stanwood, and Brandin (Jamie) Klein of Grand Rapids; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
