Georgia E. Wilson, 90, of Independence, died Tuesday, March 22, at Carmel Hills Care Center in Independence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, at D.W. Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Road, Independence. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery in Slater. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Independence First Baptist Church in Independence or Children's Hope International.
Born March 1, 1915, in Miami, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Maude Akeman. On Feb. 24, 1934, she married Robert E. Wilson, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Miami High School. She lived in Independence for 68 years and was a member of the Nu Era Study Club, Knife and Fork Club, Salvation Army Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church and its Live Wires Seniors Group.
Survivors include one son, Terry J. Wilson and wife Juanita; one daughter, Barbara Schnelting and husband Norman of St. Louis; one sister, Dera Stephens of Slater; one brother, J.I. Akeman of Slater; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, four sisters and one brother.
