NINA MAE JAMES
Nina Mae James, the daughter of the late Glenn and Ethel Lucille (Brown) Ottinger, was born February 2, 1921, in Cimarron County, Oklahoma. She entered into eternal rest on December 6, 2011 in Boise City, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.
Nina was one of seven children. She was raised in Cimarron County, Oklahoma. Nina graduated from the Felt High School in Felt, Oklahoma. After high school, Nina attended the Northwest Texas Hospital Nursing School in Amarillo, Texas. This is where she obtained her nursing degree on September 1, 1942.
On September 2, 1942, Nina Ottinger and Harold James were united in marriage, to this union four children were born, William "Bill" Harold Jr., Karen Sue, Janice Kay and Gary Wayne.
After Harold and Nina were married they lived in Plainview, Texas while Harold was in school and she worked as a Registered Nurse. After Harold returned from serving his country, they moved to the Griggs, Oklahoma area and bought a farm. Nina' desire was to stay at home and raise her family. After moving to the farm Nina was able to stay at home where she was the families rock. She drove the tractor, ran the combine, moved pipe and anything else that needed done around the farm. She was a great cook and was always feeding her family and others. Nina was known for her biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, her pies and orange lice cookies. Nina raised extremely large gardens. Nina's love fir being outside started when she was young. She washer Dad's and Grandfather's tomboy, they would say that she was their best hand. She helped them milk cows and farm. Nina was a hard worker her work ethic was unparalleled.
Nina was always Harold's helper, but after his accident in 1975, when he lost his eye sight she was Harold's eyes, hands and feet. Nina would make tapes for sermons for Harold and make sure he had everything ready for his sermons. Nina was a pastor's wife. She was a true servant of the Lord in all that she did. Nina loved sharing the word of God to others. She was a Sunday School teacher, for a number of years. The family remembers Nina and her felt board telling and preparing Bible stories for her classes, he children and her grandchildren.
Nina loved the Lord and looked forward to Jesus coming back. Nina and Harold wanted everyone to know about Jesus.
Nina loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Nina loved her children and to spoil her grandchildren. Nina and the grandchildren had many good times going shopping and learning Bible studies. They would always have a break coming home at Braum's ice cream. Nina loved seeing, holding and watching her great grandbabies and they all adored their GG.
Nina enjoyed traveling. Harold and Nina enjoyed fishing and she loved boat rides. In the past weeks she was able to go on a cruise and on a boat ride with her family.
Nina had a great since of humor, a quick wit and she loved to tease. She was a sweet lady with the kindest disposition. Nina had a beautiful smile. Her smile lit up a room and will be remembered by all that knew her. She was a very pretty lady and enjoyed looking her best for Jesus.
Nina and Harold had over sixty years together. They had a special love and adored each other.
Nina was a member of the Wheeless Baptist Church, Wheeless, Oklahoma.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Harold James, her son Bill James, he parents, Glenn and Ethel Ottinger, and three brothers, Guy Ottinger, Sonny Ottinger and Ed Ottinger.
Survivors include: her children Karen Sue James and husband John Ford of Boise City, Oklahoma; Janice Kay Davis and husband Stan of Pawley's Island, South Carolina and their children Andrea Davis, Ashley Woodruff and Amy Davis; Gary Wayne James of Boise City and his daughter Candice Berguetski; daughter-in-law Barbara James of Boise City and her children Sterlin James of Boise City and Carmen Robuck; one brother Fred Ottinger of Boise City; two sisters, Lucille Heady of Mobile, Alabama and Viola Caldwell of Topeka, Kansas; nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Wheeless Baptist Church with Galen Smith officiating.

Interment was in The Boise City Cemetery.
