Margaret Faye Chaney Smith, 89, of Abilene passed away January 6, 2015.

Margaret was born September 21, 1925 in Sagerton, Texas to Herbert H. Chaney and Stella Maples Chaney. She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest; she managed “The Thrift House”, operated by the Episcopal Church Women, and she was active in the Saint Margaret’s Guild. She was a member of the Abilene Quilters Guild and an avid seamstress and also loved to embroider.

She was a wonderful Granny and enjoyed all family functions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.V. Smith, her parents; Herbert H. Chaney and Stella Maples Chaney, and a brother, Jack Chaney.

She is survived by, three daughters; Sharon Kay Haynes and husband J.D. (Skip) Haynes of Abilene, Mary Lou Butler and husband Bruce Butler of Teague, TX, Nancy Jean Anderson and husband Andy Anderson of League City, TX. , and one son; Steven Wesley Smith and his wife Monika Smith of Abilene. Grandchildren; Dr. J. Chris Haynes and Allison, John David Haynes and Candace Haynes, Abigail Butler, Cody Butler, and Amy Butler, Katybeth Brooks and Cole Brooks, Wendy McKinney and Carl McKinney, Kevin Anderson and Alana Anderson, Jaime Rodriquez, Jeremy Smith and Kristi Flores Smith, and Shawn Smith. She had fourteen great-grandchildren, and number fifteen is on the way.
