Don Stephen Franklin, 87, of Hempstead, passed away January 5, 2015, at his residence. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hempstead, with Pastor Lee Hartman officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.

Don was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, to the late Joe Nettle Franklin and Tina C. Turner Franklin. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On March 9, 1957, he was married to Mildred Ahrens. Don was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Tina Griswold and Francis Cross.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Franklin, of Hempstead; son, Thomas Alan Franklin and wife, Cindy, of Houston; daughter, Ann Marie Franklin, of Houston; grandchildren: Reese Alan Franklin and wife, Melany, Matthew Seth Franklin and Christopher Brooks Franklin: great-grandson, Conor Knox Franklin; nieces, Kaye Griswold, and Judy Justus and husband, David; great-nephew, Chad Justus;other relatives and many friends.
