NANCY TERRY Our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, Nancy Ann Terry, age 58, of Price, Utah, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, in her home. She was born Feb. 28, 1956, in El Segundo, Calif., to Donald Bernard Meng and Dora Louise Mack. When she was seven years old, her family moved to Las Vegas, where she grew up, attended school and worked. Nancy married John Malvin Terry Aug. 22, 1975, in Las Vegas. They were then sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity Dec. 18, 1976. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many different positions in her wards including primary president, a teacher in the Relief Society and girls camp counselor. She also held various scouting positions. Nancy worked as the office manager for Vegas Propane before deciding to return to school to receive her degree. She started working for the Clark County School District, where she was a library aide and first aide safety assistant at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, while she attended classes at College of Southern Nevada, UNLV and Nova Southeastern University. She completed her student teaching at Mountain View Elementary School, where all four of her children had attended. In May 2008, she graduated with a masters of education with an emphasis in reading curriculum from Nova Southeastern University. Nancy taught second grade at Tom Williams Elementary School until her battle with cancer forced her to retire in July 2013. Nancy loved working with children, their parents and collaborating with fellow teachers. She was a great teacher and made a difference inside and outside of the classroom. Nancy was a woman of many talents and interests. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crafting, painting, crocheting and playing a variety of board, card and dice games. The highlight of her life was reading to her grandchildren. They would often climb on her lap just so she could read to them. She loved to travel, especially to California and to the ocean, where she would visit frequently with her mom, Dora. Nancy said she could sit on the beach for hours just watching the waves and ships roll into the harbor. She loved it so much she incorporated lighthouses and seashells throughout her home in Utah. She loved the outdoors and being with family whether it was camping, fishing, hunting or family vacations. For many years, Nancy was involved with restoring classic cars with her husband and was an active member of the Golden Memories Car Club. After they retired, they decided to be closer to their children and grandchildren and moved to Price. During her short time after the move, she enjoyed traveling to different art fairs around Utah with John, where she helped him set up and sell his paintings and the crafts she made with love. Nancy shared a deep love for her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Meng; brother, Michael Meng; brother-in-law, R. Kay Petersen; and son-in-law, Brian McIntosh. She is survived by her husband, John M. Terry; four children, John M. Terry Jr., Peter Deloss Terry, Amanda McIntosh and James (Jessica) Terry; grandchildren, Christian, Dylan, Abbigale, Zakary, Jacob, Nathan and Jaxson; mother, Dora Meng; sister, Linda Carpenter; brothers, Donald (Karla) Meng Jr., Ronald (Pam) Meng of Albuquerque, N.M., and John (Connie) Meng of Garland, Texas; sister, Carol (Gary) Greathouse; sisters-in-law, Marie Alane Petersen of Sandy, Utah, and Peggy (Claude) Barker of Mesa, Ariz.; many loving nieces and nephews in the Salt Lake, Mesa and Las Vegas areas.
