Kenny was born January 30, 1925, in Tightwad, Missouri, the son of Glen William and Lillian (Austin) McLain. He grew up farming near Tightwad with his family. Kenny completed high school at the age of 16 at Clinton, Missouri.
Kenny married Mary M. Parks on June 30, 1945. They resided in Clinton, Missouri, where he began his lifelong automotive career at Alva Allen Chevrolet. He became co-owner of a Pontiac, Buick and Cadillac car dealership in Ottawa, Kansas. In July, 1960, he and Ray Brown purchased the Acuff Chevrolet Motor Company in Harrisonville and formed the B&M Chevrolet at 208 East Pearl Street. The dealership became the C&M Chevrolet in 1961 and in January, 1964, Kenneth partnered with Lester Moore to form Moore-McLain Chevy Olds. They sold the business to Ed Hawes in May, 1966 and Kenneth continued to sell cars for Ed, and later for Larry Bridges Chevrolet Olds and Royal Chevrolet Olds, both in Harrisonville. He retired in 1984 from Royal and began a 30-year career with Holland Auto Sales in Harrisonville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Mary Jane “Janie” Noland and two brothers. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary, of the home; one daughter, Linda Scott; one sister, Hazel Scott; 4 grandchildren, Doug and Chad Noland, Nick and Rico Scavuzzo; and 8 great-grandchildren, Alex, Holly, Zachary, Max, Dylan, Katie, Cooper and Rossi.
Kenny loved people. He always had a smile and was glad to see you. He didn’t have a harsh or angry word for anyone. He was a sweetheart, “One in a Million”, who will be greatly missed.
