Marietta Thompson, 89, daughter of the late Telford Bynum and Pearl Essie (Boyd) Jones, was born May 8, 1925 at Allen, Oklahoma. Marietta died at the Ardmore hospital, Sunday, January 4, 2015 with family, friends and her minister at her bedside.

She lived there until 1953 when she moved to North Carolina for a time; returning to Oklahoma she lived in Wynnewood for some fifty years before moving to Ardmore in 2005. A member of the Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church, Marietta truly loved the outdoors, where she enjoyed playing golf, water skiing, Pheasant hunting, walking and exercising; but most of all she enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren, Mason and Kamme Sue Kay.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda K. Carnes and her husband, Jim; a grandson, Jimmy R. Carnes and his wife, Jennifer; great grandchildren, Mason R.J. Carnes and Kamme Sue Kay Carnes.

Her husband W. T. Thompson and son, Dennis R. Thompson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services for will be Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in the Centennial Chapel of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Leroy Holman, pastor of Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church. Graveside rites and burial will be at 2:30 p.m.in the Allen Cemetery, Allen, Oklahoma. Serving as bearers will be Dennis Cope, Darren Mayo, Larry Greathouse, McClain Lang, Clint Harrison and John Boyd. Honorary bearers include Doug Hayes, Bob Riggs, Joe Pat Hughes, Lawrence Farve, Jimmy Howell and Ray Laird .

Marietta married Wilbur Thompson on January 3, 1945.
