PASSING OF THE PIONEERS.
The late Mr. Gustav Bloss, whose death took place on September 22, was an old resident of the Laidley district. The deceased, who was 77 years of age, was
born in Berlin, and with Mrs. Bloss arrived in Brisbane in the sailing ship Lameahagon in 1872. They proceeded to Ipswich, where Mr. Bloss was employed by Messrs. Davey and Livennore (coopers). Later he worked on the first section of the Ipswich-Brisbane railway construction, and subsequently selected land at Laidley Creek West, where be resided till the time of his death. Deceased is survived by his widow, four sons, and two daughters.
