Richard Barninger, Sr., 87, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Hart Heritage Estates, Harford County, MD, where he had been residing. He was the husband of the late Mary Barninger who preceded him in death in June 2011.
Born in Columbia, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Bessie Kuhns Barninger. He was a self-employed body and fender repairman. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, serving on both the USS Walker and the USS Hale in the Pacific Theater of Operation. He was a member of the Dallastown American Legion Post #605 and the Delta VFW Post #7130 and the Slate Ridge American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD.
Surviving are his Daughters: Linda Roberts and Sharon wife of Robert Bender, both of Red Lion, PA, Roxanne Bacastow of Jarrettsville, MD, Vicki Johnson of Forest Hill, MD, Teresa wife of Timothy Paquette of Aberdeen, MD, Wendy Holston of Forest Hill, MD, and a Son: Richard Barninger, Jr. of Bel Air, MD, 14 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter. Also surviving is a Brother: Vernon husband of Maxine Barninger of Erie, PA and a Sister: Gloria wife of Joseph Halter of Mountville, PA. He was predeceased by 10 Siblings.
Funeral Services for Richard will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00PM (VIEWING: 12:00PM - 1:00PM) with Rev. Mark Kopp officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard and the VET 21 Gun Salute.
