She was born April 17, 1924, in Dry Branch, Ga., to James and Mattie (Jones) Hinson. She married Thomas R. Hurst on Jan. 17, 1942, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1976.
Mrs. Hurst worked at Western Electric Co., Indianapolis, for 23 years, retiring in 1986. She lived in Shelby County for 55 years.
She was a member of Shelbyville Baptist Temple.
Survivors include a son, Thomas R. Hurst, Savannah, Ga.; four daughters, Mrs. Ron (Sandy) Adams, Shelbyville, Mrs. Bill (Wanda) Stohry, Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Mike (Joyce) Smith, Fort Worth, Texas, and Angie Cirgin, Spencer; two sisters, Martha Brantley, Jeffersonville, Ga., and Carolyn Harrell, Warner Robins, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin E. Mohr officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
