Evelyn Louise Watkins, 79, of Adair, died Sunday, Dec. 14, at her home. She was born on Dec. 27, 1934 in Adair; the daughter or Thomas and Irene (Bennett) King. Evelyn graduated Adair High School in 1953 and worked as a seamstress for Cherokee Togs and Whitaker State Home. She worked as a home health caregiver for many years in the Adair area and served many families. She was a member of the Pleasant Hope Baptist Church and in later years a member of the Adair Christian Church. She looked forward to family gatherings and playing dominoes and checkers. She leaves behind many wonderful memories. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Ghormley Cemetery. A come-and-go visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. Watkins is survived by her brother, Lester Carl King of Adair; niece, Judy and husband Robert Bingham of Adair; nephews, John King of Adair, Bob King and Wayne King of Oregon; grand nieces, Sarah Kemp, Jesse Haralson, and Summer Bingham; great-grand niece and nephew, Chloe and Eli Kemp; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Doyle Watkins; her infant son, Kevin Watkins; her parents, Irene and Thomas King; and two brothers, Arthur King and Clarence King; and niece, Debbie King.
