James Capers Ansley was possibly born in Warren County, Georgia, sometime between September 1820 and August 1821. He married Elizabeth Smith probably about 1844 in an unknown location. He does not appear in any U. S. census record but he does appear in the Alabama 1850 state census in Pike County, He also appears in several land and other records in the county between 1845 and 1853. His son James said he was born there and it is probably where the remaining children were born. He probably dies there before the family moves to Mississippi in 1858. He is not mentioned in his sister's estate documents in 1857 so he probably died before that. He is gone from the family by the 1860 census. His burial location is unknown.
