MAGGIE VALLEY, N.C. - John Phillip Brantley, Sr., 72, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at John F. Keever Solace Center.

Mr. Brantley was born in Bushnell, Fla., the son of the late, John Keiler and Pauline Simpson Brantley. Mr. Brantley was a retired businessman and a United States Army Green Beret Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gardiner Brantley, Maggie Valley, N.C.; a son, John Phillip Brantley, Jr., Bishop; daughter, Cindy Saunders, Ocala, Fla.; step-sons, Steve Nunn, Commerce, and Scott Nunn, Blairsville; brother, Bill Brantley, Homestead, Fla.; sister, Kaye Brantley, Coleman, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 4, from the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. Interment was at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
