Cecil V. Caneer, 94, moved to heaven on November 4, 2013. He joins his wife Fee, who predeceased him. At the time of her death, they had been married for 60 years. Cecil served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired in 1964 with the rank of Chief, having served in many parts of North Africa, as well as other ports across the world. Upon retiring from the Navy, he returned to Pensacola, Florida and then settled in Jacksonville, where he opened a real estate office, Caneer Realty for twenty years, then retired a second time. He enjoyed boating for many years with Fee, his daughter Linda, grandson Brett, and many relatives and friends. Survivors include daughter Linda Cumbie; grandson Brett Cumbie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL on Wednesday, November 6, from 6-8 PM. The funeral will take place Thursday, November 7, 11 AM at Wesconnett United Methodist Church, 5630 Wesconnett Blvd, Jacksonville, FL, with Rev. Stephen Herbert officiating. Pall bearers include Joel Christian, David Jenkins, David Mead, Norman Metcalfe, William Turner, and Daniel Vaughn. Honorary pall bearers are William Lumpkin and Harold Caneer.
