Jerry Michael McLaughlin, age 82 of Lake Havasu City, passed away
Monday, Nov. 17, 2014. Jerry was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Urbana, Ohio, son
of the late Joseph and Brunette (Begnoche) McLaughlin.

Jerry served in the Air Force during the Korean War from Jan. 28, 1952
to Jan. 27, 1956. During this time, he received medals for Good Conduct,
National Defense Service, Korean Service, and United Nations Service.

Jerry married his soul mate Sadako Yamamoto in September of 1957 in
Osaka, Japan and then moved her to his home state of Ohio. In 1975 they
moved the family to Lake Havasu from Sunbury, Ohio where they planned to
one day retire. Upon arriving in Havasu Jerry purchased the PDQ Market
and shortly after selling the store he worked at Jet Printing as a
pressman for many years before his retirement.

He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family immensely. He
also had a passion for NASCAR and a flair for creating unique greeting
cards that made everyone feel special.

Jerry’s fight to survive illnesses in later years is a true inspiration
and confirmation of his love for life. He will be deeply missed but his
love will live forever in the hearts of many.

Jerry is survived by daughter, Coleen Pruyn of Lake Havasu City; two
sons, Jerry (Virgie) McLaughlin of Lake Havasu City and Kevin (Margie)
McLaughlin of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sister, Diane Gill of TegaCay, N.C. and
brother, Donald McLaughlin of Mansfield, Ohio. He is also survived by
twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-
granddaughter.

Jerry is preceded in death by wife, Sadako; parents, Joseph and Brunette
McLaughlin; and sister, Joanne Essman.

Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
Crematory.

Thoughts and condolences may be sent to Jerry’s family at www.lietz-
