Muncie – Willie “Billie” Kathryn (Hicks) Riley, 93, passed away January 5, 2015, at Morrison Woods.
She was born in Altercrest, Tennessee on December 11, 1921, the daughter of Mount and Evie (Hulin) Hicks.
Billie came to Muncie in 1941 where she worked, then met and married her husband Homer Riley in 1948. She was a member of the Madison Street United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She served on committees and taught Sunday School class. Mrs. Riley was also a member of the Home Advancement Club for many years. She was a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family, friends, and her church.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Riley, (wife-Linda), Muncie, and Michael Riley, (wife-Kathey), Muncie; a daughter, Katherine Gold, (husband-Ron), Chesterfield; seven grandchildren, Wendy Frost, (husband-Paul), Schertz, Texas, Joy Riley, Muncie, Joel Riley, (wife-Heather), Jacksonville, Florida, Luke Riley, Cincinnati, Ohio, Pam Garringer, (husband-Wade), Springport, Johnny Smith, (wife-Vicky), Portland, Tennessee, David Smith, (wife-Cindy Jo), Warren; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and two special nieces, Lois Eller and June Hicks.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, and four sisters.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Gordon Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary one hour prior to time of service on Friday.
