Erna Luetta Ahern was born at Darfur, Minnesota, on March 15, 1914. She was the daughter of Cornelius Janzen and Marie Haseman. She was married to Francis Ahern at Darfur on November 12, 1947. They made their home at New Ulm for a few years and then moved to Mankato, Minnesota, in 1953. They had one child.
Erna died at her home in Mankato on May 31, 1986. Funeral services were held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato on June 32. Burial was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery near Darfur.
Erna was survived by her husband, her son, and two grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Marvin and her sister Laura.
