Peggy Jean James

Peggy Jean James, 68, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed from this life to be with the Lord on January 3, 2015.

Peggy was born to the late Oscar Lee and Vesta Boggess on October 27, 1946 in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she was raised with her eight siblings. Peggy married her late husband Anthony James, Sr. on December 1, 1964. Peggy and Anthony left Knoxville in 1969 moving to the Ormond Beach area to raise their family. Peggy and Anthony along with their children joined the Ormond Beach First Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. After the church closed Peggy and her family joined The First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach where she also taught Sunday school. When Peggy was not involved in the Church she worked as a caregiver for the Ormond Beach Community's children, running her own Child Care business. Peggy is known throughout the Ormond Beach community for her love and affection towards the children she cared for, through the years.

Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony James, Sr., her parents Oscar Lee and Vesta Boggess, and her siblings Kenneth Boggess, Sr., Oscar Lee Boggess, Jr., Edna Sellers, Wanda Boggess and Mary Ellen Boggess.

She is survived by her loving children; Cynthia Puckett and her husband Steve Puckett of Ormond Beach, FL, Kimberly Lewis and her husband John Lewis of Newnan, GA, Anthony James, Jr. and his wife Tracey of Palm Coast, FL; step-children, Thomas Thomas and Diane Cowan, of Simi Valley, CA, and her siblings Barbara Keys, Judy Webb and Homer Boggess. Peggy is also survived by her devoted grandchildren; Andrew Folsom, Jessica Lewis, Samantha Lewis, David Lewis, Anthony T. James, Kristen Jones, Jordan James, David James, Matthew James and her grand-dog Chewy. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish her memory as well.

Peggy was a kind and loving person who always put others needs before hers. She made everyone feel welcome and above all family was everything to her. Those who called her a friend knew her as loyal and loving. She enjoyed sewing and making crafts and was known for making every event, especially holidays, special. She held family together, that is how she will be remembered, always.

A visitation to celebrate Peggy's life is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home Ormond Beach Chapel located at 548 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. The funeral service will be held at Crossroad Calvary Chapel located at 1805 N US Highway 1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174 on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. with an interment to follow at Volusia Memorial Park, located at 550 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Peggy Jean James, 68, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed from this life to be with the Lord on January 3, 2015.
