Amy was born on December 25, 1964 in Mattoon, Illinois to Ted and Alice (Spencer) Marrs Jr. She married Robert Young on June 14, 1986 at the Hidalgo Independent Christian Church.
Amy graduated from Newton High School in 1983 and then graduated from Olney Central College. Amy received the gift of a double lung transplant on April 20, 1996 and upon her passing was able to give the gift of organ donation to another. Amy was a teacher's aide in the Newton School District for many years. Most recently, she worked for DNR at the Prairie Ridge State Natural Area. Amy loved the outdoors, traveling, camping and crafting. She loved kids, going shopping; but above all else, she loved the Lord and her faith in him kept her strong.
Surviving are: her loving husband Robert; her parents, Ted and Alice Marrs; sisters Susan (Brad) Shull and Karen (Kim) Buettemeyer; father-in-law, Richard Young; brothers-in-law, Rick (Cathy) Young and Gary (Debbie) Young; sister-in-law, Gail (George) Fricks; nephews, Brady (Alissa) Shull, Brandon (Lindsay) Shull and Brock Shull; nieces and nephews, Tammy (Andy) Barnes, Jessica (Matt) Hagen, Josh Young, Myshka Everett, Matthew Young, Colin Young, Marc LeSesne ; six great-nieces, Hannah, Alivia, Faith, and Amy Flo Shull, and Riley and Kaylee Barnes. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Kathy Young.
Funeral services were at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Hidalgo Independent Christian Church. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial was at the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, Illinois. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup assisted the family.
Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Children's Youth Program, c/o Hidalgo Independent Christian Church.
