The oldest of seven children, Roger was born Oct. 20, 1940, in Miles City, Mont., to his parents, Warner and Beatrice Raymond. Growing up, Roger enjoyed collecting baseball cards, playing sports, helping his Dad at the local lumberyard, and hanging out with his friends. He graduated in 1959 from Dawson County High School in Glendive, Mont., and attended Billings (Mont). Business College as well as Eastern Montana State College in Billings.
Once Roger moved to Minot, N.D., he began working at Minot Builders Supply, where he met Carolyn (Hansen) Raymond. The two were married on Aug. 12, 1972, in Deering, N.D. During their 21-year marriage, they had one daughter, Jennifer, and a stillborn son, Chadwick.
Roger worked at Minot Builders Supply for nearly 17 years, where he worked his way up from salesperson to sales manager. Throughout his career, he was also co-owner of Minot Lumber & Hardware and worked for Pella Windows & Doors in both Minot and Bismarck, N.D. While living in Minot, he was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Minot Country Club.
When Roger moved to Texas in 1992, he worked as a warehouse supervisor for Nationmark/BMK, a wholesale distributor of toys, cosmetics, and party supplies. After retiring in 2005, he began working part time at Iidon Security Associates, where he provided weekend and evening security services for a large office building in Dallas.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, playing golf, going to casinos, collecting coins, and watching his three favorite sports teams: the Green Bay Packers, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his life, he was able to attend games of all three professional sports teams, including his dream of seeing the Packers play at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis.
He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
