SPENCER, Georgia I. 80, of Springfield, died Thursday morning, August 4, 2011 in her residence. She was born in Adams County, Ohio on April 30, 1931, the daughter of the late Riggs D. and Mary M. (Miller) Neal. She retired as a supervisor from CitiCorp, Phoenix, Arizona. Georgia was a member of First Christian Church, a former Cub Scout leader, served as safety chairman at Jefferson School, a member of Job's Daughters Bethel #47, Social Club, and the Union Club. She was an avid reader, loved meeting people, gardening, interior designing, motherhood, and traveling. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the nurses and staff of Forest Glen, Comfort Keepers, 3rd floor at Springfield Regional Medical Center, and Odyssey Hospice for the loving and devoted care given to Georgia. She is survived by her daughter, Roxanna Gootee with whom she made her home; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Norma Hyland of Springfield; grandchildren, Kari Hyland, Michael (Amber) Hyland, Ronni Sue Reed, and Kelly Marie Gootee; and a great granddaughter, Autumn Laurel Ferguson. Also surviving is a special cousin, Fred Cullip of Springfield; her "adoptive family" Janie (Glen) Thaxton; and many special friends including, Nancy Wenner, Robin McCoy, and Frank (Phoebe) Smith. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Georgia's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Joel Augustus officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County Public Library, 201 S. Fountain Ave., Springfield, OH 45506 or the Clark County Humane Society, 5201 Urbana Rd., Springfield, OH 45502.
