Lester George Powell, age 87, of South Toledo, Ohio passed away with his family by his side on Friday, January 2, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on November 11, 1927, in Toledo to Richard and Lillian (Taylor) Powell. Lester was a veteran of both the United States Navy where he served in WWII and Marine Corps where he served in the Korean War. He was employed at Jeep as a metal finisher for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of VFW Post 3338, where he was a past commander and participated in the burial corps. Lester enjoyed traveling, bowling, softball, fishing and volunteered with the Maumee Bay State Park Monarch Butterfly Project.

Lester is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Joanne; children, Sandra (Mike) Dombroff, John Powell, Deborah Imbery, Sheila McLin, Jackie (Leonard Urbina) Deible, Jennifer Powell; stepchildren, Frances Debolt, Paul (Lin) Moore, Kathy (Dennis) Keyser, Theresa Isaacs and Ronald Moore. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Kenneth, Paul, Arthur, Howard, and sister, Shirley.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 5, 2015, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, OH where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Maumee.
