Jack Edward Fahey, 88, of Walla Walla, died in Sun City West, Arizona, July 31, 1993, after a long illness. A ritualistic service was Thursday in Lafayette, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Lodge or the American Heart Association.

Mr. Fahey was born October 23, 1904 in Enumclaw, Washington. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1928.

He married Lucile Jones of McMinnville, Oregon on May 5, 1930; she died September 25, 1981. After college, he started with a commercial laboratory at Selah, Washington, and worked for the U. S. Department of Agriculture from July 1, 1929 to December 30, 1965.

After a short stint with Shell Oil Research, he worked for the government in Wenatchee from 1930-1934; then was in charge of a laboratory in Vincennes, Indiana from 1934-1964. He transferred to Beltsville, Maryland and coordinated work there and at labs in Tifton, Georgia, Kerrville, Texas, and Yakima from July 1, 1964 to December 30, 1965.

He retired from the USDA and moved to Lafayette, Indiana, where he was a research entomologist with Purdue University from December 15, 1965 to February 1971. He retired as a professor emeritus.

He became active in the Masonic Lodge in 1926 served in many leadership positions and held life memberships at lodges in Vincennes and Prosser. He was also a member of Eastern Star Alki Chapter No. 25 in Walla Walla and the BPOE here.

He was a life member of American Chemical Society, and the Entomological Society of America and was a member of the latter's governing board from 1961 to 1964. He served on an advisory committee at Vincennes University from 1968-1980 and was a member of the First United Church in Phoenix since December 1985.

On July 30, 1983, he married Edna Olin Haase of Walla Walla in Lafayette. They met on a tour of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji in 1982. Since that time they lived in Walla Walla and Sun City West. They shared an interest in traveling--abroad and in the United States; and photography, having an extensive collection of prints and slides.

Surviving are his wife, at home; two daughters, Shirley Young of Phoenix and Jaclyn Johnson of Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Judy McDole of Walla Walla; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren, and two step great grandsons.
