Marn was born on December 3, 1922 in Sunnyside, Washington to Martin and Caroline (Backer) Moody. He moved with his family to Emerson, Nebraska and there he farmed with his family. He played football in high school and also enjoyed boxing. Marn liked to play baseball and had his own team when he was younger. He was united into marriage to Shirley Gottsch on December 11, 1945 in Emerson. Marn owned and operated a gas station for many years. He moved to Baxter, MN in 1956, where he worked and retired as an auto mechanic for Mills Motors. Marn enjoyed doing small engine repair, leather- work, traveling, and gardening. Marn was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He was very proud of building his own home. Marn and Shirley recently celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Marn is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Sheyrl Moody of Blaine, MN; nine grandchildren, Maralyn, Christine, Jennifer, Julie Ann, Brenna, Tinna, Tracy, and Tony; seventeen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Caroline; twin sons, Merlyn and Marlyn; granddaughter, Lorna; and brother, Gayle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
