Ellen Elizabeth (Bain) Warner June 27, 1927 - September 26, 2014
Ellen Elizabeth Warner, 87, died in Newberg on September 26, 2014. She was born June 27, 1927 in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Warren Chester Bain and Helen Emily (Read) Bain. At the age of 2, her family moved to Portland, where she attended Lents Friends Church and graduated from Franklin High School in 1945. Ellen graduated from Pacific College, now George Fox University, in 1949. She met Raymond Eugene Warner there and married him August 27, 1948.
Ellen devoted her life to making a home for her and Ray and their five children. Those years took them from Newberg to Portland, Hillsboro, Los Gatos, CA, and Forest Grove before they retired to Friendsview Retirement Community in Newberg in 2006. Following her college choir years, Ellen continued to sing in church, was an excellent seamstress and flower gardener, became a talented oil painter, and was active many years in the Forest Grove Welcome Wagon Club. She was a member of or attended Newberg, Lynwood (Portland), and Hillsboro Friends churches and Forest Grove First Baptist Church.
Ellen is survived by her husband, Ray of Newberg; daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Paul Miller and Sally and Dan Gradin, all of Tigard; sons and daughters-in-law Gene and Jean Warner of Placerville, CA and Robert and Malou Warner of Aiea, HI; sister Lois Barnick of Salem; 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike, her parents, and sisters Phyllis Lambert and Shirley Mardock.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00,
October 14 at Newberg Friends Church.
The family asks that contributions be made to Friendsview Retirement Community in Newberg in lieu of flowers.
