Charles Kenneth Keyes, Jr.
Charles Kenneth “Kenny” Keyes, Jr. passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at UTMB Hospital from complications with heart disease.

Kenny was born June 12, 1949 in Galveston, TX, and was a lifelong resident of the Island. He graduated from Ball High School and later obtained an Associate’s Degree in Art from Galveston College. Kenny was a very talented artist and art was his main passion in life. He focused on sculpture and painting and was involved with the Galveston Art League, where he won several awards. When Kenny wasn’t painting, he loved to surf the beaches of Galveston.

Kenny was a loyal and valued employee of Mario’s Seawall Italian Restaurant for over 22 years. He made many friends and acquaintances in his time there and will be greatly missed throughout the community.

Kenny is survived by his beloved son, Siegfried Keyes; niece, Brenda Gardner; and great niece, Chelsea Moser; and remembered by the Gardner family: John, Mary Bridget, and Michael.

Kenny’s family will receive visitors beginning at 2:00 pm, Friday, November 16th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm, led by Rev. Susan Kennard.

Memorials in honor of Kenny may be made to the Galveston Art League, 2117 Postoffice, Galveston, TX 77550.

“May the Angels lead you into Paradise. May the Martyrs come to welcome and take you to the Holy City, the new and eternal Jerusalem. May choirs of Angels welcome you and lead you to the bosom of Abraham.”
