Willard (Bill)) Lawrence left the bonds of earth and flew to his eternal home on January 2, 2015, his long battle with Parkinsons Disease over.

He lived life to the fullest for all of his 93 years and will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

His career included thirty years active duty in the United States Air Force, serving in three wars (WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War) as a pilot and later as a comptroller, he retired in 1972 as a Lt. Colonel. Among his many medals are the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters.

He continued his education, earned a Masters Degree in Professional Accounting and obtained certification as a CPA. He opted to teach and taught financial accounting at college level, serving ten years with the University of Maryland, European Division.

He loved music and played the saxophone, accordion and piano. An active church goer, he sang bass in choirs for many years and also sang with the Society of Barbershop singers.

He loved water skiing and could ski backwards on a trick ski. He loved fixing up houses and was a proficient carpenter, renovating six properties, one of which was a home in England. He enjoyed traveling and toured with an RV coast to coast.

His wife of 52 years, Betty, survives him along with 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the oldest of six children, two brothers, Byron and Percy, and one sister, Lue, survive him.

The family wishes to express grateful appreciation to the kind and caring staff of Encompass Hospice and Morningside Ministries (Kaulbach Assisted Living and The Manor), and to dear friend Helen.
