He was a veteran in the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Carl retired from the West Virginia University Department of Chemistry after 25 years of service. He enjoyed farming on the family farm on Cobun Creek Road.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Maxine, two sons, Alan Wise and wife Mary Beth, Mark Wise and wife Linda.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Leona Guthrie and husband Walter, an infant sister, Mary, brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Martha Shay, Brice and Margaret Prince.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown. A funeral service will be held at Harner Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Stackpole and Rev. Dan Meadows officiating.
Interment will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery, Morgantown.
