Virgil LeRoy “Roy” Reeves, 85, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, January 2, 2015 in Shawnee.

LeRoy was born May 21, 1929 to Virgil N. Reeves and Fern (English) Reeves in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Tecumseh and was a 1948 graduate of Tecumseh High School. LeRoy and his brothers Jerry, Bob and cousin, Dewey were newspaper carriers for the Daily Oklahoman and Shawnee News Star when they were boys.

After graduation LeRoy joined the Navy in June 1948 serving until June 1952. He was stationed on Guam, Marianas Island, in Japan. In Korea he was aboard tugboats, landing craft and a destroyer until being honorably discharged as an Engineman 3rd Class. He graduated from Diesel Mechanic Course at Oklahoma State Tech. in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in March of 1955.

He Married Nancy Lou Eubanks on November 7, 1972 in Dallas, Texas. They resided in Texas while he worked in a Power House in Dallas as an Operator, Lead-man and Foreman for Vought Aircraft Industry, retiring in January of 1992. LeRoy and Nancy moved to Tecumseh after his retirement where he has resided since.

LeRoy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tecumseh. HewasamemberofTecumsehLodge #69 A. F. and A. M, American Legion Post #260 of Tecumseh and a past member of Tecumseh Lodge #62 I.O.O.F., and a member of the Tecumseh Alumni Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil M. and Fern Reeves; his wife Nancy Lou Reeves; 2003; his Dachshund, Hans Ray, his faithful friend and companion; 2 brothers, Robert C. Reeves and Jerry D. Reeves; brother-in-law, Franklin D. Rountree; and great-nephew, James (Bo) Swearingen.

LeRoy is survived by 2 sisters, Gail Reeves of Tecumseh and Marilyn Rountree of Shawnee. 2 sisters-in-law, Loudene Reeves of Tecumseh and DeMona Reeves of Ozark, AR; 5 nephews, Jerry Reeves and James Reeves of Ozark, AR, Rick Reeves and Robert Reeves of Tecumseh, and Gregory Price of Shawnee; Jacquita Neil and Jannie Layne of Springdale, AR, Jo Dee Brouhard of Avoca, AR, Krisiti Clifton of McLoud, OK; and many cousins, great-nephews and great-nieces; special friends Larry Lockard and Lee Tate who was like a brother to Roy; and numerous friends.

LeRoy’s favorite saying was “Jesus Loves You and So Do I.”
