Cory Gilbert, age 53, passed away at Southern Hills Medical Center on January 2, 2015. He was born at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ, but lived most of his life in Murfreesboro. He was a graduate of Oakland High School, class of 1979. Cory was a member of the Independent Baptist Church and worked for many years at Webb’s Refreshments in Murfreesboro. He currently worked for Guardsmark at the Lincoln College of Technology in Nashville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Marie Wilson Gilbert and Melvin Gilbert. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Stewart Gilbert, son, Edward Brent Gilbert of Murfreesboro, daughters; Allyson Kaye Gilbert of Antioch and Grace June Stewart of Antioch, brother, Melvin Glynn Gilbert Jr., sisters; Teela Rose Gilbert and Ruby Renee Mitchell, and grandson Matthew Brian Gilbert.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home. A chapel service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Jennings & Ayers Chapel with Ray DeVries and John Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
