Aberdeen – Willie Lois “Bill” Miles, 85, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Gilmore Memorial RMC, Amory. Born on August 14, 1929, in Itawamba County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Eva Cleo Doster Bennett.

She was a graduate of the Smithville High School Class of 1947. On April 30, 1950, she married Jimmie Newton Miles. Working together with her husband, they owned Bill and Jim’s Friendship House Restaurant and Jimmie’s Fish Products. She was a great cook, loved working in the restaurant and she treated everyone like they were her family. Mrs. Miles was a member of Trace Road Baptist Church and the most important thing in her life was her family. She was especially close to her sister Kathleen and her dear friends Dorothy Mosley and Evelyn Keeton. She enjoyed listening to gospel music. If asked, she would say her greatest accomplishments, in life, were her children, grandchildren and her great granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughter, Stephina Fowlkes (Doug), Aberdeen; son, Vincent Miles, Aberdeen; sister, Kathleen Lovern, Smithville; grandchildren, Neil Palmer, Will Fowlkes, Austin Miles, and Katherine Clark (Barrett); great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Barrett Clark; nieces, Hilda Johnson (Dwight), Glenda Hoots (Phil), Judy Carpenter (Edsel), Jan Dunlap (Michael); nephew, Tommy Lovern; special friends, Dorothy Mosley and Evelyn Keeton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Travis Bennett and Thomas “Bud” Bennett.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Monday, January 5 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jimmie Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Neil Palmer, Will Fowlkes, Austin Miles, Tommy Lovern, Dwight Johnson, and Steve Keeton.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to a charity of choice.
