SOUTHBOROUGH -- Gladys R. (Tufts) Binder, 81, of Southborough, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Westborough, after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of William G. Binder Jr. for 60 years.
Born in West Milton, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mary (Grace) Tufts.
Mrs. Binder attended school in Sanbornville, N.H., and was a 1943 graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester, N.H. She was an executive secretary for the Southborough tax collector's office, the former R.E. Jarvis of Southborough and for her husband's company, W.G. Binder Contracting, for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Binder was a Brownie leader and a school volunteer for many years. For numerous years, she worked at the polls for the town of Southborough during elections. She was a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Ray Stone Post of Shrewsbury and Southborough Senior Citizens.
Even with all her different jobs and volunteer work, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will miss her loyal little dog, Murphy.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son, William G. Binder III and his wife, Elaine, of Claremont, N.H., and a daughter, Melinda Dalton and her husband, John, of Southborough; and five grandchildren, William G. Binder IV and Emily Binder, John Dalton IV, and Adam and Brian Dalton.
A funeral home service will be held Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m., at the Morris Funeral Home (www.Morrisfuneralparlor.com), 40 Main St., Southborough.
Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, Southborough.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
