LAKE ISABELLA, Calif. Mary Mae Birkhofer, 80, of Lake Isabella, Calif., passed away suddenly Sunday, July 29, 2007, after attending her husband's memorial.
Mrs. Birkhofer and her twin sister were born April 1, 1927, the daughters of Geraldine and Marvin Wright, in Muscatine.
She was married to Mel Birkhofer for 61 years. They moved from Los Angeles to Lake Isabella in 1975.
She worked at Nelda's Diner for 13 years as a waitress and then retired and raised foster children.
Survivors include her son, Nick Birkhofer of Norwalk, Calif.; a daughter, Patty Clinton and her husband, Paul, of Pahrump, Nev.; six grandchildren, Brandon, JP, Kiersty, Jennifer, Tova and Heather; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russ Wright and his wife, Joan, of Mt. Mesa and Ralph Wright and his wife of South Carolina; and many foster children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, June and Betty; and a brother, Clarence.
