Marva Jean Thomas, 51, of Daytona Beach passed away on January 21, 2013. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2 pm at Greater New Zion Primitive Baptist Church. Viewing and visitation with the family will be Friday, January 25, 2013 from 5 until 8 pm at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home. Marva was born to the late Maxie Thomas, Sr. and Alyce Mitchell Thomas, on November 6, 1961 in Daytona Beach, FL., attended local schools and was a graduate of Mainland High School. She earned a degree in Early Childhood Education from Daytona Beach Community College and worked at the DBCC Lab School. Because of her nurturing spirit she enjoyed being a Home Health Aide for many years in addition to working with young people. She was a member of Greater New Zion Primitive Baptist Church for many years where she sang in the choir. Family was a very important part of her life and she enjoyed spending quality time with her mother and her sons. Her hobbies included cooking and traveling. Always one to be a helper she was known to help in the game room at The Health Center of Daytona Beach during her stay there. Those left to cherish precious memories are her sons, Travis Thomas and Phillip Wilson both of Daytona Beach, FL; her mother Alyce Thomas; brothers, Maxie Thomas, Jr., Frank Thomas and Paul Mitchell; one sister, Gayla Mitchell Williams, Miami, FL; special nieces and nephews, Franiesha, Inga and Troy; great nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Audrey, Yvonne, Barbara and Linda ; and many other loving relatives and friends.
