James M. Bird, 69, of Shelbyville, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at Major Hospital.

Born Nov. 8, 1934, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Roy and Ruth (Cotton) Bird. He married Patricia Wilson on July 3, 1954, and she survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael Bird of Indianapolis and Dennis (wife, Janice) Bird of Shelbyville; one daughter, Janice (husband, Jerry) Veerkamp of Shelbyville; and two grandchildren, Cody Veerkamp and Erin Veerkamp.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Bird, Frederick Bird and Robert Bird; and one sister, Margaret Cravens.

Mr. Bird was employed in quality control at TRW Cinch for 34 years.

He graduated in 1952 from Shelbyville High School.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
