World War II Soldier. First Peace-time Draftee. He was the son of Ernest and Anna Bartlett Lynch. He was the first soldier drafted in the United States' first peacetime draft established in 1940 by the Burke-Wadsworth Act. Lynch's number, #158 was the first card drawn by Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson. After the war, Lynch returned to Lewes and worked as an auto mechanic. He later owned a gasoline station and a bait and tackle shop. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17. He was married to Leora Fisher for 67 years.
