Mrs. Louisa Jane Averett MILLS of Mount Pleasant, died at her home Thursday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. following a three weeks illness with a heart ailment.
Mrs. MILLS was the daughter of Isaac N. and Emeline Tidwell PHIPPS, and was born in Venice, Sevier County, September 30, 1877. Her parents moved to Mount Pleasant when she was less than two years old and she has resided here since that time. She received her education in Mount Pleasant schools and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was married to Arthur AVERETT, November 01, 1893 and to this union nine children were born. Mr. AVERETT died September 09, 1925. She was married to Dr. E. G. MILLS, July 08, 1929.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. E. G. MILLS, Mount Pleasant; five children, Eva A. LARSEN, Portland, Oregon; Wilburn AVERETT, Salt Lakek City; Wanda A. CURTIS, Moroni; Lettie A. CHRISTENSEN and Dr. Dail P. AVERETT, Mount Pleasant; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; also two step-children, Elva DeCAMP, San Pedro, California; DeVere MILLS, Burbank, California; and three sisters, Ella HODGES, San Marino, California; Sarah P. ALLRED and Lettie PETERSON, Mount Pleasant.
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon in the Second-Third Ward Chapel with Bishop Edgar Lasson of the First Ward bishopric, officiating. Prayer at the home was give by A. L. Peterson. Organ prelude music was played by Ethel Ericksen and the opening prayer at the Services was by Mason Burnside; vocal solo, "Hold Thou My Hand", Rex Hafen, accompanied by Ethel Ericksen; speaker, Daniel Rasmussen; tribute, Jane Brinton; organ solo, a favorite of Mrs. MILLS, "The Singing Hills", Ethel Ericksen; speaker, President H. C. Jacobs; remarks, Bishop Lasson; vocal solo, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine", Pearl Peterson, accompanied by Mrs. Ericksen; prayer, Bishop Arnold Y. Stevens.
Burial was in Mount Pleasant City Cemetery under direction of Jacobs Mortuary. Bishop Harold Young dedicated the grave.
