A lifelong resident of the area, he retired as a Captain from Meriwether County Fire Department after working thirty years in fire, EMS, and police services. He was a member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Hogansville, was an American Heart Association CPR instructor, and was a member of the Meriwether County CERT Team. Survivors include his daughter, Anna Elizabeth Boyd of Manchester; sister and brother in-law, Robbie and Eric Burke of LaGrange; brothers and sisters in-law, David and Crystal Boyd of Greenville, Derek and Susan Boyd of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Cason Boyd and Luke Horne ;and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, with the Reverend Paul Stitcher and the Reverend Randall Dunlap officiating.
Interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery, with a final salute provided by a fire service honor guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Saturday night.
