Came to Iowa From Illinois in 1893.
Jerome M, Whalen, 82, for many years a resident of Grand Junction, Ia., died late Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James T. McGrane, 2806 Fifty-third St.
Mr. Whalen was born in Livingston county, Ill., and came to Iowa in 1893. He was active as a farmer and stock breeder in the vicinity of Grand Junction until 1910 when he retired to live in Grand Junction.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Saturday in St. Bridget’s church, Grand Junction. The body has been taken to Jefferson, Ia.
Mr. Whalen is survived by a son, Jerome E. Whalen, Jefferson; six daughters, Mrs. Edith McNamara, Jefferson, Mrs. McGrane, Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, Dana, Ia., Miss Sue Whalen, Grand Junction, Mrs. Frances Lane, Des Moines, and Miss Grace Whalen. Fairfield, Ia., and a sister, Miss Frances Whalen, Des Moines.
