Mary Jo Mead, 70, of Leawood, passed away October 2nd at St. Joseph Health Center. She was born in Kansas City and had lived in Chicago, Philadelphia, St. Louis and New York City before returning to the Kansas City area in 1972. Mary Jo was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church and its Ladies of Charity, the Hibernian Auxiliary and Discussions Club. She organized Cure, the church's prayer chain group. Mary Jo was a member of the Leawood Women's Club, the St. Joseph Health Center Auxiliary and the Overland Park Elks Lodge Auxiliary.

She was survived by her husband, E. Russ Mead; a son, D. Michael Mead of San Francisco; three daughters, Peggy Baldwin of Prairie Village, Terry Quinn of Kingwood, Texas, and Sue Mead of San Francisco; three brothers, Charles Frick of Los Altos, California, Vincent Frick of Sacramento, California, and Jack Frick of McKinleyville, California, and four grandchildren.

Friends called on Tuesday evening at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, where the Rosary was said later that night. Services were held on Wednesday morning at Cure of Ars Catholic Church. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas.
