MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Ruth E. Day, 87, Muscatine, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Unity Hospital after a lingering illness.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Brenda Goodall will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary McCullough, Dean Hetzler, Larry Britton, Elizabeth Williams, Paul Williams and Laura Williams.
Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Sweetland Worship Center Scholarship fund at Fellowship United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Day was born June 29, 1915, in Sweetland Township, Muscatine County, the daughter of E. Ray and Katherine Bieber Holtz. She married Gordon Day March 12, 1939 at the home of her parents in Muscatine County.
She was a 64-year member of the Sweetland Methodist Church and was actively involved in the United Methodist Women, a 4-H club leader, member of the county committee and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Janet Williams and husband Bill of Solon; three grandchildren, Elizabeth of Minneapolis, Minn., Paul and wife Tracy of Lake Zurich, Ill. and Laura of Atlanta, Ga.; a great-grandchild, Alex; a sister, Reva Hetzler of Muscatine; and three nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
