Jerry Bennett Earnest, 86 of Ardmore, Oklahoma, husband of Rose Wadlow Earnest, died January 1, 2015 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Ardmore.

Born in Durant, Oklahoma on July 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Tillman F. and Maud M. Rigdon Earnest. Mr. Earnest was a graduate of Phillips High School, Phillips, Texas, Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma State University and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Earnest was a Vocational Agriculture Instructor at Mountain View and Alfalfa, Oklahoma and served as an instructor and Director in the Oklahoma Vocational Technical system in Oklahoma City and Altus, Oklahoma. Mr. Earnest also served as an Executive Vice President of the First National Bank of Mountain View, Oklahoma. Mr. Earnest retired in 1987. He was a member of the American and Oklahoma Vocational Association, Oklahoma Bankers Association, Oklahoma Education Association, National Education Association, a member of the Physician Manpower Commission under former Governor Henry Bellmon and a member of Rotary International for many years.

He was married to the former Rose A. Wadlow on January 28, 2010, in Hidalgo County, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Jerry R. Earnest and wife Margaret of Mclean, Va., Ron Earnest and wife Gail of Greenville, S.C., and Mark Earnest and wife Charlotte of Denver, Co.; two stepsons, Jim Wadlow and wife Patsy of Columbia, Mo., and Marty Wadlow and wife Stacey of Grover Beach, Ca., four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Tia Juana West Earnest and his seven brothers.
