On the morning of December 27, 2014, the angel of silence came in the room and sealed the life of Sister Melissia Pittman. Her soul winged its flight to a place of eternal rest.
She was born in Arlington, Georgia on August 16, 1934, to the late Frank Durias and Lillie Murphy Durias. For many years Sister Pittman served as the lead Phlebotomist at Halifax Hospital where she had the responsiblity of training newly hired phlebotomist.
Melissia leaves to cherish precious memories her sister, Pearl (Theo) Walker, Daytona Beach, FL; one uncle, Wallace Durias, Washington DC; one stepson, Kenyatta McIntyre, Ocala, FL; three nephews, Kim (Peggy) Walker, Milledgeville, GA, Ricky (Bonnie) Durias and Anthony Craig Durias, Daytona Beach, FL; two nieces, Kathy McCrary, Milledgeville, GA and Princess (Andre) Chaney, Palm Coast, FL; and a host of great-nephews, nieces, other relatives, church family and friends.
The funeral service will be 11 am Friday, January 2, 2015 at Westside Church of Christ. Visitation will be Thursday, January 1, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at Herbert Thompson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
