Joseph D. Lemmons was born December 23, 1950, in Wright City, Oklahoma, to Charlie Jefferson and Martha Mae (McClain) Lemmons. He passed from this life December 31, 2014, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 64.

He married Mary Jo Tims on June 6, 1975 in Hugo, OK and lived in this area for many years. He graduated from Officer Candidate School in 1982, served during desert storm obtain the rank of captain during his career in the U.S. Army, he was known around here as the Marlboro man, served two terms as ward 4 city councilman in the 1980's, started the Jackson Street Nursery in 1995 enjoyed being at the nursery and helping his customers.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents: brothers: Charles Stephen Lemmons, Timothy Marshall Lemmons, Theo Lemmons and Curtis Lemmons; sister: Elaine Lemmons; nieces: Dianna Lemmons, Christine Ferranti, and Reesa Lemmons.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Jo Lemmons of the home; sons: Timothy Lemmons and wife, Kristin of Hugo, OK and Brandon Lemmons of Hugo, OK; brother: Tommy Lemmons and wife, Barbara of Wright City, OK; sisters: Janie Sheehan of Paris, TX and Charlotte Sims of GA; two grandchildren: Landon Blake Lemmons and Tyson Kole Lemmons.; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Rev. Doug McClure and Rev. Jim Roebuck officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
