Mrs. Blizard was born September 27, 1919 in Ashe County and was a resident of Buncombe County. She was a devoted Christian and a member of First Baptist Church Black Mountain for 64 years.
Mrs. Blizard was preceded in death by her parents, William Heggie and Mollie Eller McNeill; husband, Thomas Blizard, Sr.; son, James McNeill Blizard; daughter, Barbara Orr; brothers, Robert, Frank and Edward McNeill; and a sister, Frances Bradford.
Surviving are her son, Tom Blizard, Jr. (Dixie) of Black Mountain; four grandchildren, Allen Blizard (Donna), Chris Blizard (Dawn), Andrea Sellers (Ronnie) and Melissa Blizard; six great-grandchildren and a special niece, Mary Simmons.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church Black Mountain with the Reverends Bill Henderson and David Rayburn officiating. Burial will be held in Mountain View Memorial Park.
