Christine B. Newton, 81, of New Canton went to her home in heaven on December 23, 2014. She was born August 29, 1933, in Harrisburg, PA, the only daughter of the late Samuel Frank and Mildred McCurdy Buccieri. She was in the Buckingham County Woman’s Club, Buckingham County Public Library Committee, Italian Club of Richmond, Senior Regent, Star Recorder in the Moose Lodge and Fork Union Chapter No 111, Order of the Eastern Star. She was an educator for 38 years; loved books and was a devoted Christian who attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Columbia. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother who leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Howell L. B. Newton; a daughter Lynn Salley and her husband, Brian of Ashburn; a son, Frank Newton and his wife, Jeanette of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Brianna Salley, Adam and Drew Newton; her brother Joseph Buccieri and his wife, Donna of Harrisburg, PA; two nieces, Pam Buccieri and Susan Eichenberg and her husband John; and great nephew Jared. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Columbia, with interment in the Arvon Baptist church Cemetery, Arvonia. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Richmond Fisher House Foundation; 300 Arboretum Place, Suite 660, Richmond, VA 23236.
