Early in the winter Mrs. Clark with her youngest son, Robert, left for California in order to escape the severe weather and to place Robert in Pamona college. At the time of her death Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins Clark, who live near Los Angeles and Robert were there with her.
Mrs. Clark was one of the most prominent and best loved women in Cheyenne. Since she came to the city in the eighties she took an active interest in club and civic affairs, being a member of the Woman's club for many years and serving on various committees of the State Federation of Woman's clubs, gladly giving the benefit of her keen mind and splendid education. Before leaving for California, most of her activity was centered about the Civic League movements. The Folk Lore club is said to have been one of her favorite organizations.
Before her marriage in 1881 she was Frances Johnson of Iowa. The wedding was solemnized in Utah. Her husband, Judge Gibson Clark, died a few years ago.
Four sons survive Mrs. Clark, James Hopkins and Robert G., who were with her in California, John D., who with his wife has been in Washington, D.C., for the past two weeks and Captain Frank Clark who is thought to be with the American army in France.
The body will be brought here for burial but arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made. She was past 50 years of age.
