Jennie “Marie” Hamblen, 94, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away at Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Missouri, on Thursday, January 1, 2015.

She was born on January 12, 1920 in Bogard, Missouri, a daughter of Charles William and Maude (Wagaman) Vaughn. She attended Braden Grade School. Marie was married to Merle Smith who preceded her in death. On April 9, 1965, in Carrollton, Missouri she was united in marriage to Robert V. “Pearch” Hamblen who also preceded her in death. She was a hairdresser and a homemaker and she loved to collect teddy bears and stuffed animals.

She was a member of the United Church of Tina and the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.

Marie is survived by stepdaughters in-law, Linda Hamblen, of Carrollton, Missouri, Linda Mae Brown, of Norborne, Missouri, and Edith Huffman, of Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Doris Trussell, of Carrollton, Missouri; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert Hamblen, a stepson-in-law, Gerald Brown, and a brother-in-law, Flavel Trussell.

A graveside service will be held at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Ebenezer Cemetery in Bogard, Missouri, with Pastor Rodney Baumgarden officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 3, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. before following the procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Henson, Tom Albright, Lloyd Tucker, Rob Hamblen, and Howard Duckworth.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to United Church of Tina in memory of Marie. They may be left at or mailed to Foster Funeral Chapels, 201 S. Main, Carrollton, Missouri. 64633.
