Major Robert Louis Voelkel age 76 of The Rock Ga, died Thursday January 1, 2015 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Major Voelkel was born on June 13, 1938 in Orlando Fl, to the late Richard and Doris Walker Voelkel. He served his country in the U.S. Army until his retirement and received the rank of Major. During his service Maj. Voelkel received a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 13 Crosses of Valour, Purple Heart, and Meritorious Service Medals. Major Voelkel was a graduate of the University of Florida and received his masters from Texas Christian University. He was of the Catholic Faith. Major Voelkel was preceded in death by his daughter Mrs. Julie Ann Simonson.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Emily Voelkel of The Rock Ga, daughters Mrs. Jeanne Marie (William) Dall of Rockford IL, Ms. Tammy D. Allen and fiancé Mr. John Fleming of Palm Coast Fl, sons Mr. Anthony D. (Alice) Farr of Lawrenceville Ga, Mr. Josh (Sherrill) Escude of Jacksonville Fl, brother Mr. William Gary (Lori) Voelkel of Bradenton Fl. 15 Grandchildren. 7 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 5, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors at 920 S. 107th Avenue Suite 250 Omaha NE. 68114.
